Ethics? Whazzat?

So, that FCC commish who pushed through the NBCU/Comcast deal? Just quit to go work as a lobbyist for the company.

There are no words to describe how nasty this is. I thought I’d have some big, long, ranty post here, but instead, I’m just speechless.

I’m hardly the kind of person who’s against big companies–even big media companies–on principle, but this particular deal is really quite awful. It’s easy for most of us out here to point and laugh at Fox and other Murdoch minions, but it’s also easy to forget that they’re not the only ones who have tried to use government resources to push through corporate interests, and shafted the public in the process. The FCC exists in large part to protect the public interest in these cases. Knowing that this person was most likely in the company’s pocket even as she was working for the government is appalling.
